Leadership Initiatives October 13, 2008 Community Foundation Initiatives A community is only as strong as the people who live in it. In our community, we value our deep civic pride, our quality of life, and our capacity for caring. But we know that there is always more to be done to build the bonds between citizens that can enrich our lives and improve our community.  There are many ways to improve our community and here are some Community Foundation initiatives that do just that… Although everyone knows that youth are the leaders of tomorrow, too few people recognize that they can be, the leaders of today!  Teens for Tomorrow  is an exciting community-building opportunity that allows young people to lead and support change through philanthropy.  At the heart of this program are activities for youth, to learn about and actively practice philanthropy.  Teens identify community needs and are provided the resources to act on them – to become a part of the solution.  At the heart of the CommunityWorks initiative is a grant-making program that focuses on education, economic development and the environment with special emphasis on childcare, workforce development, and land use and protection, which will greatly benefit our community. Women Building Community’s mission is to inspire, encourage, and educate women to impact their community and enhance their lives through volunteering, leadership, and philanthropy.  Their vision is to empower every woman to impact the community through devoting time, talent, or treasure to causes.
